Since the beginning of our MexiFrutas plant in Costa Rica, we have been working on improving our processes to achieving international certifications to guarantee our customers the quality and safety of our products; also, we are incorporating sustainable practices that protect our environment.
Currently, we are promoting the implementation of the Energy Management System with the aim of optimizing the energy consumption of the Costa Rica plant and obtaining the certification of the “ISO 50001 Energy Management Standard” for greater productivity and competitiveness through the continuous improvement of operational efficiency, as well as a lower impact on our environment by reducing our energy consumption.
The ISO 50001 standard is a voluntary international standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that provides an internationally recognized framework for managing and improving energy performance.
Although the standard does not stipulate a “recipe” to follow, it establishes the requirements to develop and implement an energy policy; establish energy consumption improvement goals; as well as design and execute an action plan to achieve said goals and measure their progress. This has led us to establish initiatives and projects to achieve our energy performance goals.
The implementation of the Energy Management System at the Costa Rica plant is carried out by a multidisciplinary team, which, at the end of the implementation stage, will carry out an internal evaluation of its performance and, once concluded and approved, proceed with the audit by an organization empowered to accredit and certify our system. We are looking forward to achieving the ISO 50001 certification on behalf of our clients, coworkers, and our environment.
